The “Listed on Skill Index” README badge

If your skill or skill collection is listed on Skill Index, you can add a small badge to its README. It tells readers the skill is in a public directory and takes them to its page, where the install command, license and related skills are one click away.

Badge styles

Two styles, both static SVGs with the text drawn as shapes, so they look the same on GitHub, npm and PyPI, in light and dark mode, at any zoom:

StylePreview
Flat (141×20)Listed on Skill Index
For the badge (192×28)Listed on Skill Index

Image URLs:

  • Flat: https://fixaierrors.com/badge.svg
  • For the badge: https://fixaierrors.com/badge-for-the-badge.svg

Use the flat one next to other shields.io-style badges, and the larger one when it stands alone under your project title.

Get the snippet for your skill

The quickest way is to open your skill's page on Skill Index (search for it on the home page or find your repository) and scroll to Add this badge to your README at the bottom. The snippet there already links to the right page; pick a style and Markdown or HTML, then copy it. Repository pages have the same box for a whole collection.

Written by hand, the Markdown is an image wrapped in a link to your skill's page:

[![Listed on Skill Index](https://fixaierrors.com/badge.svg)](https://fixaierrors.com/<owner>/<repo>/<skill>)

Replace <owner>/<repo>/<skill> with the path of your skill's page (it mirrors the GitHub repository and the skill's folder name). For a repository with several skills, link to https://fixaierrors.com/<owner>/<repo> instead.

Example

The snippets for anthropics/skills → frontend-design, as they appear on its page:

[![Listed on Skill Index](https://fixaierrors.com/badge.svg)](https://fixaierrors.com/anthropics/skills/frontend-design)
[![Listed on Skill Index](https://fixaierrors.com/badge-for-the-badge.svg)](https://fixaierrors.com/anthropics/skills/frontend-design)
<a href="https://fixaierrors.com/anthropics/skills/frontend-design"><img src="https://fixaierrors.com/badge.svg" alt="Listed on Skill Index" width="141" height="20"></a>

HTML and centred READMEs

Many READMEs centre their header badges with HTML, since Markdown can't align images. The HTML snippet sets the image's width and height, so the README doesn't jump while it loads:

<p align="center"> <a href="https://fixaierrors.com/<owner>/<repo>/<skill>"><img src="https://fixaierrors.com/badge.svg" alt="Listed on Skill Index" width="141" height="20"></a> </p>

What the badge does not do

  • No tracking. It is a static file: no script, no cookie, no per-repository URL. GitHub fetches README images through its own image proxy, so we never see who views your README.
  • No live numbers. It doesn't show stars or a rank that could go stale or be wrong.
  • No conditions. Your listing doesn't depend on it.

You may copy the SVG into your repository and reference it from there; please keep the link and don't change the wording. “Official” on Skill Index only means the repository belongs to the tool's vendor, so the badge doesn't claim it.

Your skill isn't listed yet?

Skill Index indexes public GitHub repositories that contain SKILL.md folders (see the SKILL.md format). Send the repository link to hello@fixaierrors.com. The full SKILL.md text is only shown when the license allows it; otherwise the page links to GitHub. How skills are ranked is explained on the about page.

FAQ

Do I have to add the badge for my skill to stay listed?
No. Listing depends only on the repository being public and in the index. The badge is optional, and removing it changes nothing.
Does the badge show stars, rank or install numbers?
No. It is a fixed image that always says “Listed on Skill Index”. Skill Index ranks by the source repository’s GitHub stars and does not track installs, so there is no live number to show.
Can I use it outside GitHub, on npm, PyPI or a docs site?
Yes. It is a plain SVG image, so anything that renders Markdown or HTML images can show it. For reStructuredText use an image directive with :target: set to your skill’s page.
